The more of these traits they have, the more likely it is to be viable. For now, I want to look at three traits a legendary creature can have that make it appropriate for cEDH.

I’m also in the Vala discord. What makes a commander good enough for cEDH? What draws competitive players to one new legendary creature while another is ignored? Why are casual nightmares, like Atraxa, Praetors' Voice and Tergrid, God of Fright, largely irrelevant while otherwise unassuming legendaries helm some of the best decks in cEDH?Īny deck can throw a two-card combo and a fistful of fast mana in the 99 and call it a day, but without an appropriate commander, I'd hesitate to call it cEDH.Ĭolor identity is half the battle, but that's an article for the new year. I like ] as it doesn’t depend on boardstate if you stall out. If there are ] in your meta then ] is a must. ] can be a backup Karametra’s Acolyte in a pinch. A good pump spell on any dorks of even Vala herself. Easy include since you already have GSZ in your list.įrom your staxy includes it seems you have some grindy games. I think the primer runs like 12 options to get her out on turn 2. Some people even run ] and I’ve also thrown in ]. I see like 7 1 drops that would allow you to do so. Now, I'm certainly not implying that this deck is at the top of the tier 1 lists and *should* be winning the majority of its cEDH games - I was just wondering if any of you had any suggestions of cards to add to the deck to help me feel just a bit less helpless.īudget isn't really a consideration as this deck is kind of my baby.įor a start you need more ways to get Selvala out on turn 2. Usually, ole Selvala dies once or twice and I'm just in a brutal spot to get back into the game or my opponents just go for a Demonic Consultation-type win and there just isn't anything I can do about it because, you know, Mono Green. When I've been going to my LGS, though, it just doesn't seem to have any real chance against the other cEDH decks at the table (I don't play it against regular decks because I'm not a piece of shit). It's certainly good enough - with no interaction it can usually win on T4.

So, when I've been playing this deck for some time now.
